Baccalaureate and Convocation Celebrations to commence this weekend for Brescia

Brescia will welcome over 150 graduates along with their family and friends to St. Peter’s Basilica on Sunday, June 15, for the annual Baccalaureate and Magisterial Exercises, which marks the graduation of Brescia’s Class of 2014. The day includes a formal procession into the cathedral, the presentation of a ring to each graduate, and addresses from Valedictorian Melissa Nantais and Magisterial Speaker Karen Schuster-Bellemore. Special guest speaker and Brescia alumna Martha Dutrizac will also address the expected 700 person audience. Martha retired in 2013 as Director of the Huron-Perth District Catholic School Board. The afternoon also includes recognizing Brescia’s ten past Principals with the honourary title of Principal Emeritae.

The graduates will continue their celebration on Monday, June 16, as they gather on campus with family and friends for lunch, photos, and a class procession down the Brescia hill to Alumni Hall, where the women will formally be presented with their degrees. The procession is expected to take place at 1:30 p.m. and will be led by led by bagpiper, Eileen Robertson, Director of Student Affairs and Registrar, Marianne Simm, and Director of Campus Ministry, Catherinanne George.
