Brescia’s signature Baccalaureate and Convocation celebrations commence this weekend

London, ON – Brescia University College’s graduation celebrations begin on Sunday, June 18th with almost 900 Brescia faculty, staff and graduands gathering for the time-honoured 95th annual Baccalaureate and Magisterial Exercises. The celebration continues June 19th as 235 graduands, accompanied by their families, will gather at Brescia’s campus before descending down Brescia hill to their Convocation ceremony.

“Brescia’s graduation celebrations are a symbol of what we embody as Canada’s only women’s university. We are proud to continue to educate extraordinary women who lead with wisdom, justice and compassion,” says Brescia’s Principal, Dr. Susan Mumm. She goes on to say, “How could one not be excited to celebrate the women leaders of tomorrow?”

In addition to celebrating the Class of 2017, three distinguished faculty will also be recognized: Dr. Edward Bell, recipient of the Award for Excellence in Teaching – Full-time Faculty;  Dr. Dominick Grace, recipient of the Award for Excellence in Research and Professor Jennifer Broxterman, recipient of the Award for Excellence in Teaching – Contract Faculty.

Media are welcome to Brescia on June 19th, where at 1:45 p.m. the graduands, led by bagpiper Eileen Robertson, will process down Brescia hill to Alumni Hall at Western University and have their degrees officially conferred upon them.
