FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

London, ON – On Friday, March 18th, Brescia University College is pleased to host the first-ever Brescia student-led Jack.org Satellite Summit. This free, one-day conference is designed to empower student leaders to change the way all students and Canadians think about mental health. Brescia’s event, organized by the Jack.org Brescia Chapter, will be one of many summits held nation-wide.

The Satellite Summits were established to expand the reach of the Jack Summit, which is an annual mental health innovation conference. It offers students the opportunity to build leadership skills and learn more about the issues and stigmas surrounding mental health. This year’s national conference occurred in Toronto in early March 2016. In efforts to provide the Brescia community with the “Summit experience,” Brescia’s local Satellite Summit will offer students the opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers and participate in important discussions.

“By holding events like Brescia’s Satellite Summit, together as a community we can silence the stigma surrounding mental health, gain leadership skills, increase our understanding of mental health, and aspire to inspire,”  says Molly Schoo, Brescia student and event organizer.

Brescia’s local chapter of Jack.org is a network of young leaders transforming the way Brescia University College thinks about mental health.
