Brescia University College Appoints Interim Principal

London, ON – Dr. Donna Rogers, currently Brescia’s Vice-Principal and Academic Dean, has been appointed Interim Principal of Brescia University College for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2015. Brescia Board Chair Liz Hewitt notes, “Dr. Rogers has been an integral part of the Brescia community since she was appointed Academic Dean on July 1, 2013 and has shown outstanding leadership through this position and through her involvement as a member of the Principal’s Cabinet. Prior to her arrival at Brescia, Dr. Rogers served as the Associate Dean, Academic of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.

Dr. Rogers holds an Honors BA in Latin and Spanish from the University of Waterloo, an MA in Spanish from Western University, and a PhD in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from the University of Toronto. Prior to joining Brescia faculty, Dr. Rogers taught in undergraduate and graduate programs at Pennsylvania State University, Queen’s University, and Middlebury College, in addition to Dalhousie University. Her teaching and research has been focused on Spanish and Catalan language, literature and culture. Throughout the many challenges she has taken on over the years, she has devoted passion and energy to curriculum development, unit reviews, academic planning, internationalization, and the implementation of learning objectives.

Liz Hewitt adds, “The Board is delighted that Dr. Rogers has agreed to take on this critical leadership role while we search for a new Principal to replace Dr. Hanycz, who leaves Brescia on July 1 to assume the Presidency of La Salle University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Rogers is also looking forward to leading Canada’s only all women’s university. She says, “I welcome the opportunity to serve Brescia as Interim Principal, and to lead the implementation of our strategic goals set out in Shaping Lives of Purpose.”
