Inspired women win Lululemon prizes on Facebook

May 10, 2012

London, ON – Brescia University College launched a Facebook competition this spring to inspire young women to exchange a few words about how one woman in their lives inspired them to be better. The contest, dubbed “Women of Inspiration,” offered an opportunity for participants to walk away with a $350 Lululemon Gift card with a $50 gift to the charity of their choice, and other great prizes.

On March 30th the 10 finalists were chosen, and on April 20th the participants with the most votes won. The entries included stories of mothers, grandmothers, coaches, and best friends. Receiving over 30% of the total votes, first-place winner Valerie Sinclair wrote, “My mother is a very strong woman who inspires me to be everything I can — no matter what.”

Not only will Valerie receive the $350 Lululemon Gift card, but $50 will be donated to the charity of her choice, The Women’s Rural Resource Centre, Strathroy and Area. In second place, receiving a $100 Lululemon Gift card was Nicole Vaughan, who wrote of memories of her deceased mother as her greatest inspiration. And finally, third place and $50 Lululemon Gift card winner, Erin Dias, wrote about a supportive best friend.

“We are really enthusiastic about having such a large group of contributors to this contest,” said Sheila Blagrave, Brescia University College Director of Communications, Marketing, and External Relations. “The students offered such inspiring stories and received so many votes indicating the vital role that women play in supporting each other.”
