London, ON – In a series of 11 professionally produced videos released on Thursday July 14, 2011 Brescia University College addresses many of the variables students consider before deciding upon a specific university for their post-secondary education.
Brescia’s Principal, Dr. Colleen Hanycz, explains, “We know that students don’t choose a university to pursue their educational careers based solely on academics. That’s a large piece of the puzzle but more than ever students are looking for an educational experience. Students want to know that their professors will be caring and engaged. They are looking for physical spaces on campus that will stimulate learning. They are looking for a university that will provide them with leadership opportunities and some of our students coming from other countries are interested in being a part of a compassionate community that will make them feel at home.”
Each of the 11 new videos addresses a specific question that Brescia faculty and staff are commonly asked. These questions include: Will there be a place for me at university? Will I get to know my professors? What will the classroom experience be like? Will I find people who will become my friends for the next four years and beyond? In these videos, answers are revealed. Students speak of their favourite physical spaces at Brescia. Faculty members explain what their classroom and teaching styles are like. International students speak of the unwavering sense of community at Brescia. Brescia’s Principal even speaks directly to parents in a video titled Parents.
The video campaign builds on the Brescia Bold brand that was launched in September 2009. Brescia’s Director of Communications, Marketing & External Relations, Sheila Blagrave, thinks the concept is unique and emotional. “It is one thing to say that Brescia is an empowering and student-centred environment, but it’s another thing to show the audience that. It was important for us to highlight the faces and places that make Brescia feel like home. You’ll find that the testimonials provided by our students and faculty are truly heartfelt because they are unscripted, sometimes silly, but always honest.”
These 11 videos have been added to Brescia’s YouTube channel and web site in addition to the nine videos that were launched this time last year.
The videography team of Cabral Creative filmed students and faculty for two days this spring to create this fresh line up of videos.
All 11 videos are now posted to YouTube at www.youtube.com/bresciauc and appear in a rotation on the home page at www.brescia.uwo.ca.
