LONDON, ON – On Monday, January 3, Brescia University College  launched its “Women of Inspiration” contest – a seven-week Facebook contest  that will award two young women, in Grades 11 or 12, an all-expense paid trip  for two to London, Ontario.

High school students are encouraged to log on to Brescia University College’s  Facebook fan page, between January 3 and February 22, and submit their answers  to the question, “Which female leader has inspired you?”

On February 28, Brescia  faculty and staff will announce the two winners of the grand prizes: two  all-expense paid trips for two to London,   Ontario the weekend of March 11  to 13. The package includes round-trip Via Rail transportation, hotel  accommodations for two nights, admission to Brescia’s March Break Open House, a day at  the spa, and all meals – for the two winners and their guests. Brescia  wants to give prospective students the chance to visit London, the campus, and discover what a great  place this is to live and learn.

Earlier this year Brescia  launched a comprehensive social media plan in an effort to create a  student-centred approach to recruitment – online. The plan, which leverages  multiple social media platforms, was implemented so prospective and current  students, alumnae, and Brescia  faculty and staff could engage in dialogue.

“Brescia  has always prided itself on being a student-centred community. Knowing that  students are using less traditional forms of marketing to gather information,  and to research their post-secondary educational pursuits, we felt it was  important to engage students online,” Brescia’s Director of Communications,  Marketing and External Relations, Sheila Blagrave, explains. “Our hope is that  this Facebook contest will ignite conversations about what makes a successful  leader. We also wanted to offer an opportunity for future students, who otherwise  might not have the chance, to visit London and Brescia’s campus.”
