Brescia principal initiates blog to exchange ideas, news, and stories

March 1 , 2010

Dr. Colleen Hanycz, Principal of Brescia University College, is the fifth   leader of a Canadian university to become a blogger.

“I look forward to engaging this way with all members of Brescia’s community,   including students, alumnae, faculty and staff, and to exchanging ideas with   everyone interested in women’s education, leadership, and other topics of the   day,” said Hanycz.

The Weekly LEADer began as an internal communication in fall 2009 and the   response has been very positive. “I have been getting some amazing feedback   about the fact that we have a weekly communication and also about what good   information we have shared so far. Expanding the audience means more people will   have the opportunity to get to know Brescia as Canada’s premier women’s   university. And, the blog format means I can receive and respond to feedback,   which I expect will be very rewarding,” Hanycz said.

The blog has begun as a pilot   project with the first post going up on Friday, Feb. 26 with the commitment from   Hanycz to write at least weekly until the end of April. If the response is as   favourable as it has been to the internal communication, the blog will run again   from September through April in the years ahead.

In addition to the Principal’s blog 4th year Psychology and Sociology student   Kate Bryant is sharing the students’ perspective in her blog, also launched on February 26.
