FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 21, 2007
LONDON, ON (June 21, 2007) – On Thursday June 21, 2007 more than a hundred donors will be on hand to celebrate the completion of the capital campaign for the Beryl Ivey Library. Celebrations will get underway at 3:00 p.m. Joining students, alumnae, faculty, friends and staff in the celebration will be alumnae Joan Francolini and her daughter Sara who made a significant gift in the naming of the Class of 1955 computer resource centre in the library along with Joan’s classmates.
“My daughter Sara and I are pleased to have been able to support this capital campaign,” explained Joan. “We are both graduates of Brescia and in making this gift, we opened a new chapter in Brescia’s history. It’s a good way for us to share our love for Brescia University College.”
The Beryl Ivey Library has become a popular gathering place for students from Brescia and other Western campuses, eager to use the space for independent and group study.
“When we turned the soil in 2006 for the new Beryl Ivey library, we were excited about our new Beryl Ivey Library” remarked Dr. Theresa Topic, principal. “Now a year and a half later, we celebrate the successful completion of the campaign. It connected us with hundreds of donors and forged many new relationships for Brescia.”
Brescia University College has experienced tremendous growth over the last four years in student numbers and range of degree offerings. The library expansion enables the College to provide the space, academic resources and research tools necessary for Brescia students to continue to prepare for their roles as leaders in society.
